The Council exemplified four new members On August 23rd. Joining the Grand Knight as our newest Brother Knights are: Goran Pomar, Mike Ragucci, Bob Byrne and John Dwyer. They are all welcome to our Council And we look forward to their participation in Our activities. Please congratulate and welcome them when you see them
August 23, 2017. Brothers, this date will be remembered for quite some time to come and for two wonderful reasons. Four men became members of Mary Queen of Angels on that evening. Bob Byrne, John Dwyer, and Goran Pomar & Mike Ragucci took part in the First Degree Exemplification. This is important on several levels. Firstly, it shows that our council is still vibrant and still very much alive as we’ve not seen this many men enter at one time in quite some time. Secondly, new life is breathed into our council, new ideas, new ways, fresh eyes. Thirdly, our council will live on as we ‘old timers’ pass the torch on to them. The 2nd reason the evening will be remembered is because the members of Mary Queen of Angels, conducted the ceremony. Rich Siwinski, Rich Konstance, Scott Lash, Ed Owens, Ed Clark, and I played the various roles. (Jerry Bowes, also a member of the team was busy conducting our blood drive) It was our first First Degree Exemplification since we received certification to do so. The new guys are good men; good husbands, good fathers, good Catholics, just like you all are. Do you remember when you received your First Degree? Do you remember how happy you were, the questions you had, the wonderment with which you looked upon those conducting the ceremony? The same look was in the eyes of these men. We were so very honored to have Monsignor Golias, Deacon Ray, Nick Milillo our District Deputy, and Bill Urban, our insurance agent, present during the ceremony. We are thankful for the men who joined, for the men who participated, and most especially, for Rich Konstance who spearheaded our First Degree Team, provided the necessary tools we needed to conduct the ceremony, and who saw the dream he’s had for some time now, come to fruition. Yes, my brothers, August 23, 2017 was a wonderful day to be a member of Mary Queen of Angels. Vivat Jesus!
Mary, Queen of Angels, protect us, bless us, pray for us.

From our Chaplain
Dear Brother Knights,
Labor Day gives us an opportunity to pause and consider the proper place of work and workers in society. When man works, he shares in the work of creation. Our Savior was a working man who earned His living by the sweat of His brow. When we work, we obey God’s command to be stewards of creation, given to us in the Garden of Eden. Man’s dignity comes from being made in the image and likeness of God, not from whatever his functioning does for society. Therefore, totalitarian states who see the worker as a cog in a big machine, whose overall purpose is to advance their ideology are morally reprehensible. Also morally questionable is unbridled capitalism, which would exploit the resources of the earth and the workforce for the personal accrual of money for a select few. Labor unions can be a way to fight inequality and secure the legitimate human rights of workers. See what Solidarity did in Poland—it lead to the end of Communism! When, however, unions use thugs to enforce their “rights” or union bosses accumulate inordinate political power, the union is not reflecting its original and true purpose. May employers and employees work in an atmosphere of mutual support, trust and enrichment, and may all be aware of the true value and dignity of human labor. May Mary, Queen of Angels, keep you and all those you love close to her heart. God bless you always, Father Al Masluk

Our Principles & Values All of the good works that we do in the Knights of Columbus are centered around the four core principles that make our Brotherhood the strong and respected fraternal organization that is world renown for doing good deeds for others. The 4 principles we live by are:
Charity † Unity † Fraternity † Patriotism Our Catholic faith teaches us to “Love thy neighbor as thyself.” Members of the Knights of Columbus show love for their neighbors by conducting food drives and donating the food to local soup kitchens and food pantries, by volunteering at Special Olympics, and by supporting, both spiritually and materially, mothers who choose life for their babies. Knights recognize that our mission, and our faith in God, compels us to action. There is no better way to experience love and compassion than by helping those in need, a call we answer every day

Hurricane Harvey’s punishing rains, fierce winds and raging floods have left a wake of devastation. Vulnerable children and their families have been forced to evacuate their homes, not knowing whether they’ll still be standing when they return. Emergency responders are working around the clock to provide family-friendly supplies and services to Hurricane Harvey survivors. The Council mobilized collectors for the masses over Labor Day weekend to solicit help from our Most generous parishioners. The Council will be making a contribution to help our brothers and Sisters in Texas and Louisiana. If you would like to help, please send you contribution to : Rich Konstance, 3412 Amity Road, Philadelphia, PA 19154. Please make checks payable to: “Mary Queen of Angels” and place Hurricane relief on the memo line. All contributions will be used TOTALLY for assistance to the hurricane victims
