►Romania Aristoteles Workshop (1st August to 5th September) This year the Aristoteles Workshop took up residence in Vama, in the Romanian province of Vukovina. Seventeen students from Romania, Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic divided into four teams attended the workshop. Two permanent tutors, Rafi Pitts and Nino Kirtadze as well as various contributors coached them. After five weeks of intensive work, 4 twenty-minute-films were presented to a small judging panel of representatives from the Universities of Prague, Bucharest and Budapest, ARTE France and TVR, the Romanian public channel. Two films were singled out as being particularly good : Building n°6 directed by the Hungarian student, Peter Akar and A summer of Mosquitoes directed by the Polish student, Agnieszka Kowalczyk. The two students will share a 3,000 Euro award which will help them to put the finishing touches to their documentaries.

For this fifth edition, the workshop, specially dedicated to the training of budding documentary makers, obtained a grant from the European Union (“Media Programme”) in addition to the financial support of ARTE France and the Romanian Film Institute, its two founders. The Romanian Cultural Centre also helped to fund the workshop. For the first time, the Film departments of the Universities of Prague, Bucharest and Budapest entered into the partnership and took part in all the decisions relating to the running of the workshop. They will help to publicise the training course in the three countries. http://www.aworkshop.org
