We think the idea of the flats having windows overlooking the church is a good one, and we generally favour this proposal. 3. Application No: 14/02262/FUL Location: 54 Lansdown Crescent Lane Cheltenham Proposal: Erection of 3no. 2/3 bed mews houses and 1no.1 bed studio following demolition of all existing buildings on site at 54-56 Lansdown Crescent Lane and 24 Lansdown Place Lane Applicant: Castellum Agent: Mr Bevis Stanley Comments: We regret the loss of small industrial units in this areas – of which this is only one example. But we recognise the demand for such housing and have no objection to the design. 4. Applicant: Mr J Winson Agent: Mr David Jones Comments: We welcome this proposal. It is an interesting and idiosyncratic proposal for an unusual site.

Applicant: Mr N Sinclair Agent: Mr Peter Marshall Comments: This is an attractive building, which deserves appropriate use. We are concerned that the number of washing and other facilities may be inadequate for the number of rooms, but it is difficult to be definitive without more knowledge of the intended use. 2. Application No: 14/02242/FUL Location: 5 Vernon Place Cheltenham Proposal: Provision of four one bedroom starter homes Applicant: Mr Jamie Fergus Agent: Mr Mark Roberts Comments: We do not think the design here is appropriate for the context. More account needs to be taken of the proximity of the High Street and Sandford Park. 3. Application No: 14/02262/FUL Location: 35 Selkirk Street Cheltenham Proposal: Formation of three one bed apartments (formerly one two bed and one one bed apartments) at 35-39 Selkirk Street Applicant: Winnens Ltd Agent: Ian Johnstone Associates Comments: This is a satisfactory restoration of the former shopfront to make it appropriate for residential use, with the slight recess providing a memory of its former life as a shop. 4. Application No: 14/02271/FUL Location: Cheltenham Gas Club Arle Avenue Chelte Proposal: Demolition of vacant former Gas Club and erection of 14 apartments Applicant: Castanum Ventures Ltd Agent: Mr David Jones Comments: We would be sorry to see this quite attractive and shamefully neglected piece of vernacular architecture demolished. As a building on the banks of the Chelt it should be cherished. The design for the proposed block of flats to replace it is totally inappropriate for this site: it looks as if it has been borrowed from the prospectus for a 1980's apartment block in a cheap holiday resort.

Applicant: Ms Jennie Bore Agent: Mr Philip Taylor Comments: The style of these proposed railings seems Regency rather than Edwardian, which would be more appropriate in this location with its Edwardian-style houses. Fencing with brick piers might fit in better. 6.
